I spent two weeks backpacking around Sicily with my cousin, travelling entirely by public transport. And honestly, Sicily was such a fun way to experience Italy. We moved between different cities and coastal towns, ate an unreasonable amount of pasta and pizza, explored ancient ruins, swam in the sea and figured out the trains and buses as we went.
What I loved most about travelling around Sicily was how different each place felt. From the beautiful streets and beaches around Taormina to ancient archaeological sites, smaller towns and busy cities, there’s a lot more to the island than just one destination.

A Final Note About Sicily
My two weeks backpacking around Sicily with my cousin were such a fun part of my Italy travels. We travelled entirely by public transport, explored different cities and coastal towns, ate a lot of very good food and figured things out as we went.
What I loved most was the variety: ancient ruins, beaches, beautiful towns, amazing food and that relaxed Sicilian atmosphere. I hope my guides help you plan your own trip and make travelling around Sicily a little easier, while still leaving some room for your own adventures along the way.
