Belgium

Belgium isn’t just a country I travel through. It’s home, and it also appears in my Belgium travel guides across different cities and regions.

I’m originally from Leuven, but I’ve also lived in Brussels and Ghent, each city showing me a different side of this small but surprisingly diverse country. From the energy and complexity of Brussels to the softer, student vibe of Ghent, Belgium shaped my independence, friendships, and identity.

Belgium is uniquely split into a Flemish (Dutch-speaking) and a French-speaking region, each with its own culture, pace, and character. I’ve explored both over the years, from city life to quieter countryside escapes.

I also have a holiday home in Durbuy, in Wallonia, which is one of my favourite places to slow down, explore nature, and escape into the Ardennes whenever I need a break from city life.

It’s cycling everywhere, terraces in the first spring sun, and fries after a night out. No matter how far I go, this is where I return, my grounding point.

Why these Belgium travel guides exist

These Belgium travel guides bring together my personal experiences from living in different cities, exploring regions, and travelling between Flanders and Wallonia. They combine local insights, city life, and slower countryside moments.

Final note

Belgium is where I return to, no matter how far I travel. It’s a mix of cities, culture, nature, and everyday moments that shaped who I am.
