How It All Started
Before I went on my Working Holiday in Australia, I remember thinking: What the hell am I actually getting myself into?
I had no idea what to expect. I knew I wanted to travel, but I would have loved to read something from someone who had already done it. Not just a practical guide telling me where to go, but the real stories, the chaotic days, random people, unexpected situations, nights out, homesickness, funny moments and all the little things that don’t usually make it into a travel guide.
So I started writing everything down in a diary.
And when I eventually started reading my old entries back, I thought: wait… this is actually really juicy.
There were so many things I had completely forgotten about, and reading them again felt like reliving the whole experience.
That’s when I thought: why not share these stories with other people?
I first started writing them on another platform. But pretty quickly I had another thought:
Why not create my own?
And Then LifeAsSaar Was Born
In February 2026, I decided to build my own website.
I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.
It was basically:
How the hell do I build a website?
How do I make it look nice?
And… how does any of this actually work?
So I figured it out as I went.
And then I started writing.
And writing.
And writing.
At some point, I realised I had collected so much information about the places I’d visited that I could actually turn it into something useful for other travellers too.
That’s when the travel guides started appearing.
And somehow, what started as a place to share my diary became LifeAsSaar, a mix of personal stories, travel guides, local tips and everything I learn along the way.
What You’ll Find in Sunday with Saar
Sunday with Saar is the more personal side of LifeAsSaar.
These aren’t meant to be perfectly polished travel guides. They’re the stories behind them.
The places I fall in love with. The ones that surprise me. The people I meet. The plans that completely fall apart. The nights I probably shouldn’t have stayed out that late. The moments that make me laugh when I read them back months later.
Basically: the stuff that actually happens when you’re out there living it.
And although Australia is where it all started, it doesn’t end there.
I’ve now started writing about Italy, Belgium and the other places I get to explore, and hopefully there will be many more to come.
