One of my favourite things about Canggu was the number of cafés. If you know me, you’ll know I’m always happy to find a good breakfast spot, and Canggu definitely delivers on that front.
From smoothie bowls and specialty coffee to generous brunch plates and cafés that look like they belong on Pinterest, there is no shortage of places to try. You could honestly spend your entire stay café-hopping and still have places left on your list.
I tried several popular spots during my time in Canggu, and there are a few I’d happily return to. Not every café was equally worth the money for me, though, so I’ve included my honest opinions to help you decide where to go.
In this guide, you’ll find seven of the best cafés in Canggu for breakfast, brunch and coffee, including my favourite spot, a colourful plant-based café and one place I found a little overpriced.
If you’re planning to explore more than just the café scene, check out my complete Canggu travel guide for the best things to do, beaches, nightlife and practical tips for your stay.
1. Crate Café
If I had to recommend one breakfast spot in Canggu, Crate Café would be high on my list. It was one of my favourites, and I actually visited twice during my stay.
Crate is a popular spot for breakfast and brunch, known for its coffee and generous-looking plates. It’s a great place to start your morning before heading to the beach, exploring Canggu or fitting in a workout.
What I liked about it was that it felt like a solid choice for a proper breakfast. With so many cafés to choose from in Canggu, it’s nice to find somewhere you’d happily visit more than once.
As you might expect from one of the area’s popular cafés, it can get busy. I’d keep that in mind if you’re hoping for a quiet breakfast, especially during peak morning hours.
My verdict: One of my favourite cafés in Canggu, and definitely one I’d recommend adding to your list.
If you’re wondering whether the area itself is worth visiting, I’ve shared my honest thoughts in my guide to whether Canggu is worth visiting, including what I liked and what I didn’t love.
2. Kynd Community
If you love colourful food, smoothie bowls and plant-based options, Kynd Community is another café to consider.
Kynd is well known for its plant-based menu and colourful presentation. It’s a good option if you’re looking for vegan-friendly breakfast or brunch, or if you simply enjoy trying cafés that put a little extra effort into how their dishes look.
Canggu has plenty of places serving smoothie bowls, healthy breakfasts and plant-based food, but Kynd is one of the names that frequently comes up when people talk about the area’s café scene.
It’s also worth considering if you’re travelling with someone who follows a vegan diet and want a place with options beyond the usual eggs and toast.
My verdict: A good choice for plant-based food, colourful brunch dishes and a café that looks as good as the food.
3. Revolver
Coffee lovers should add Revolver to their Canggu café list.
One of the nice things about Canggu is that you don’t have to look far to find somewhere for a coffee break. Whether you’re grabbing a takeaway coffee before exploring or sitting down for a slower morning, there are plenty of options.
Revs is worth considering if you want to explore more of the local café scene beyond the biggest breakfast spots.
My tip is to combine your coffee stops with places you’re already planning to visit. Canggu can be busy, and travelling across the area just for one coffee isn’t always the best use of your time.
Getting between cafés and beaches can take longer than expected, especially when traffic is busy. Read my guide on how to get around Bali for tips on transport, scooters, ride-hailing apps and getting between destinations.

My verdict: A coffee stop to add to your list if you want to try more than just the best-known brunch cafés.
4. Artisan
Artisan is another name to keep in mind when looking for breakfast, brunch and coffee in Canggu.
If you’re staying for several days, I’d recommend trying a few different places rather than going to the same café every morning. There are so many options that discovering somewhere new can become part of the fun.
Artisan is worth considering if you want to explore Canggu’s wider food scene and add another stop to your café-hopping itinerary.
As with any popular café in the area, I’d check the current menu and prices before visiting, particularly if you’re travelling on a budget.
My verdict: One to add to your shortlist if you’re planning to try several breakfast spots during your stay.
5. Ours
Ours is another café and restaurant to consider if you enjoy brunch or a meal in a stylish setting.
One thing I noticed about Canggu is that going out for breakfast can easily become a whole activity in itself. Instead of simply grabbing something to eat, you can choose a beautiful café, order a coffee and spend a little longer enjoying the morning.
Ours is worth considering if you’re looking for somewhere to add to your food itinerary beyond the most obvious tourist stops.
If you’re planning a few days in Canggu, you could combine different cafés with a beach visit, a surf lesson or a workout. That way, you’re not spending the entire day eating your way around the area, tempting as that might be.
My verdict: Worth considering if you want to explore more of Canggu’s café and restaurant scene.
6. Doppio Café
Doppio Café is another option to keep in mind for coffee and a casual breakfast stop.
With so many cafés in Canggu, I wouldn’t necessarily plan an entire day around visiting specific restaurants. Instead, I’d make a shortlist of places that appeal to you and choose one based on where you’re staying or what you’re doing that day.
This is particularly useful in Canggu, where traffic can make short distances take longer than expected.
Doppio can be another stop to consider if you want to try different coffee spots during your stay.
My verdict: A useful addition to your café shortlist if you’re staying in Canggu for a few days and want to explore beyond your first-choice spots.
7. Copenhagen Café
Copenhagen Café is probably the place I had the most mixed feelings about.
The concept is fun: you choose different items to build your own brunch, giving you the flexibility to put together a meal that suits your appetite. The food was tasty, and I can understand why the café is popular.
However, I found it quite expensive for what I got compared with some of the other cafés I tried.
Would I tell you to avoid it? No. If the concept appeals to you, it could still be worth a visit. But if you’re backpacking around Bali and trying to keep your daily spending under control, I’d prioritise Crate Café or explore some of the other options first.
One thing to remember about Canggu is that eating out at trendy cafés every day can add up quickly. A coffee here, brunch there and a smoothie bowl the next morning might not feel like much individually, but the costs can accumulate over a longer trip.
You don’t have to skip the popular cafés altogether. I’d simply choose the ones that genuinely appeal to you rather than feeling like you need to visit every spot you see on social media.

My verdict: A fun brunch concept and tasty food, but not my first choice if you’re looking for the best value for money.
My Tips for Breakfast and Brunch in Canggu
Before you start planning your own café-hopping itinerary, here are a few things I’d keep in mind.
1. Don’t Try to Visit Every Café
Canggu has so many trendy breakfast spots that you could easily spend your entire holiday trying to tick them all off.
My advice is to choose a few that genuinely appeal to you. I’d put Crate Café on the list, add Kynd if you enjoy plant-based food, and then choose a couple of other places based on their menus and location.
You can always discover more cafés when you’re there.
2. Keep Your Budget in Mind
Canggu has cafés for different budgets, but the trendier brunch spots can be relatively expensive compared with eating at a local warung.
If you’re travelling around Bali for a few weeks, you don’t necessarily want to spend a large part of your budget on breakfast every morning.
I like trying cafés when I travel, but I also think it’s worth mixing them with local Indonesian food. That way, you can enjoy the café scene without paying café prices for every meal.
3. Check the Location Before You Go
Canggu might look compact on a map, but traffic can make getting around frustrating.
Rather than travelling across the area for every meal, I’d group cafés by location and visit the ones that make sense for your plans that day.
You can use Google Maps to save your favourite spots and create your own breakfast and brunch list before arriving.
4. Check Current Menus and Opening Hours
Canggu’s café scene changes regularly. New places open, menus change and prices can increase, so it’s worth checking the café’s current information before visiting.
If you have your heart set on a particular breakfast spot, check its latest opening hours and menu rather than relying entirely on older recommendations.
Where to Eat Breakfast in Canggu: My Final Thoughts
For me, the breakfast and brunch scene was one of the best things about Canggu.
Even though Canggu wasn’t my favourite place in Bali overall, I loved having so many cafés to choose from. Whether you’re after a smoothie bowl, a proper brunch, specialty coffee or somewhere to meet other travellers, you’ll have plenty of options.
Crate Café was one of my favourites, and I’d happily go back. Kynd Community is worth considering for plant-based food, while Copenhagen Café is an option if you like its build-your-own-brunch concept — although I found it relatively expensive for what I got.
My biggest tip is not to turn café-hopping into a competition. Pick a few places you genuinely want to try, enjoy your breakfasts and leave room for spontaneous discoveries.
And if you’re planning the rest of your Bali trip, don’t stop at Canggu. I personally preferred Uluwatu for its beaches, coastal scenery and overall atmosphere, so I’d definitely recommend exploring both.
