Introduction
Byron is starting to feel different again.
What used to be pure chaos and going out every night is slowly shifting, still messy, still unpredictable, but with more reality creeping in. Work, rain, saying goodbye, planning what’s next… and somehow still ending up in the weirdest situations.
This week felt like a mix of hangovers, emotional comedowns, random connections, and moments where I really had to choose myself.
And honestly? Not mad about it.
Main Adventure
Monday – Goodbyes, Wine & Bad Decisions
Drove to Claire for my weekly cleaning job and told her I’m leaving soon. She was sad, but also genuinely happy for me, which made it even harder.
Worked, took a nap in the afternoon, and by evening Mara had a shift… and I had wine.
Met a guy from my room who casually bought wine for me (dangerous energy), and we started drinking. Soon Laura (Danish), Laura (German), and Ingrid joined.

Also moved back to Arts Factory for the week because Backpackers Inn was full, classic Byron chaos.
Ingrid fully hyped me up to go out… which was probably not the best idea.
Drank way too much. Ingrid disappeared with a guy.
And somehow I ended up talking to three English guys… and then just one.
Henry.
Very cute. Like… very cute.
Ended the night with kissykissy and absolutely no regrets in that moment.
Tuesday – Hangover From Hell & Crêpes Night
Woke up with the worst hangover I’ve had in a while.
Still went to work (respect), and somehow after a few hours it faded. Survival mode.
Got pizza after, went to the beach for a bit, and in the evening we had a crêpes night at the hostel. It was so much fun!
Ella and Marnie joined, because yes, Marnie is BACK in Byron.
Honestly, such a wholesome reset after the chaos of Monday.
Went to bed early for once.

Wednesday – Coffee Plans & Last Night Feels
Went for coffee at Treehouse with Ella, Mara, and Laura.
Planned to book my West Coast trip… obviously forgot.
(At this point it’s becoming a personality trait.)
In the evening, it was Ella’s last night.
After Treehouse, Mara and I went to the beach near Backpackers Inn. Marnie joined for a bit, one of those soft, quiet Byron moments.
Back at the hostel, we made pasta and then headed to Aquarius.
They hadn’t even started eating yet (of course), so we waited and eventually ended up drinking on the terrace. Two of their friends joined, one a bit weird, one okay.
Then the night took a turn.
We went to Rails, Laura (Danish) joined with friends, and suddenly there was a whole plan to set me up with a guy at Lovers Lane.
Quick mandatory stop at the pie shop.
Arrived at Lovers… completely dead.
Secret Garden not being closed yet really killed the vibe, everybody was still there.
So yeah, home it was.
Honestly? Good decision.
Thursday – Doctor Visits, Bookings & Long Days
Full day.
Doctor at 9:30… turns out I have a fungal infection (yes, glamorous) from wearing wet bikinis too much.
So lesson learned: wet clothes + constant beach life = not ideal.
Started work at 11 and it was insanely busy. Only took a one-hour break, but used it well.
Finally booked my flight and tour for Western Australia.
LET’S GOOOO.
Worked until 10:45pm. Somewhere in between, someone stole my towel.
Seriously, stop stealing???
Updated my mom via a full Messenger briefing, then crashed in bed with Mara.
Friday – Work Drama, Rain & Unexpected Vibes
Morning started chaotic, I went to the pharmacy thinking I started work at 10:30… turns out it was 11.
Saved by bad planning for once.
At worked a long shift until 3:30. It was one of those busy days where everything just kept piling up, but I actually didn’t mind staying longer because more hours = more money.
At some point during the shift, Juan had made me a whole list of tasks to follow. So I just kept going through it, assuming I needed to finish everything before I could leave. It wasn’t even questioned in my head, I just went into full “get it done” mode.
Then, near the end of the shift, Claudia suddenly asked me when I was supposed to finish.
I said: “3:30.”
And she literally just went: “BYEEE.”
Like… no explanation, no “thanks,” no “good job,” just that I had to leave immediately.
What made it worse was that it was already 3:39. So technically I was “late,” but I genuinely thought I had to finish Juan’s list first. I even wanted to stay longer because it was a public holiday and extra hours were welcome, but apparently that wasn’t the plan.
So I just left, slightly confused and a bit annoyed. It wasn’t even about leaving early or late, it was the way it was handled. A simple “you can go now” would’ve been enough.
Anyway.
Got pizza after work (necessary recovery meal), then biked back to Arts in the rain. Classic Byron weather: dramatic and inconvenient.
When I got there, I was just sitting in the kitchen eating when Josh showed up again.
And this time… I decided to just not care anymore.
He saw me, I saw him, and instead of the usual weird avoidance, I just stayed. He ended up sitting at my table and we actually talked properly for the first time in a while.
And honestly? It was unexpectedly nice. No tension, no overthinking, just a normal conversation for once.
So yeah… he’s not as bad as I made him in my head.
Friday Night – Chaos, Clubs & Questionable Choices
Back to Backpackers Inn because JILL IS BACK.
Said I wouldn’t drink.
I drank.
Shared goon with Jill and Mara. Told a random guy he was hot, he said the same back, then I asked if he’d hooked up with many girls in Byron.
Apparently not the move. He got weird and left.
We went to the reopening of Salty’s, terrible…
So… Lovers again.
Laura got me a free drink (queen), and I got very drunk.
Toronto guys showed up, Max kept trying to kiss me. I kept saying no.
At some point he just did anyway.
Not okay.
Also saw Benoit (my long-term roommate), gave him a hug, and he randomly told me he has a girlfriend.
Okay… congrats??
Then saw Junior, a guy I matched with on Bumble.
He was… not what I expected.
Mara and I laughed way too hard after (sorry not sorry).
By the end of the night, I was DONE.
Skipped another random guy, kissed Ingrid and Jill (lol), ran into Mick (Dutch coworker), who somehow knew someone from Antwerp through Mara.
By 2am we finally went home.
Saturday – Hangxiety & Reset Mode
Not my day.
Full hangxiety. Just wanted to be home.
Worked longer though, so at least money.
After work, went to Arts, met Jill’s ex, then just stayed in bed with Mara.
She went for a walk, Jill joined me, chatted with an English guy from the room, and eventually Mara came back.
Nothing crazy.
Exactly what I needed.

Sunday – Slow Ending
Super chill.
Stayed in bed, talked, rested… mentally preparing to go back to Claire the next day.
Byron slowed down again.
Romance
This week was… a lot.
Henry: very cute, very fun, very chaotic.
Josh: confusing, but maybe not as bad as I thought.
Random guys: mixed results, questionable behavior.
Also a reminder: not every interaction deserves your energy.
Tips & Tricks
- Don’t stay in wet bikinis all day (learn from me)
- Not every night out is worth it, leave when you feel it
- Hangxiety is real… but it passes
- Rain days = reset days
- You don’t owe anyone attention, ever
Reflection
This week felt heavier in a way.
Still chaotic, still social, still full of random moments, but also more awareness.
About people. About boundaries. About what I actually want.
Some nights were fun. Some felt off.
Some people surprised me. Others… not in a good way.
But I’m starting to trust myself more in all of it.
To leave when I want.
To stay when it feels right.
To not chase things that don’t give the same energy back.
And maybe that’s part of the journey too.
Not just saying yes to everything,
but learning when to say no.
Wherever I am next, I’m learning that even chaos can feel like a beginning.
