Some places stay with you long after you’ve left. Not because they’re overly luxurious, but because everything feels right.
For me, Spice Trader on Nusa Penida is without a doubt my number one stay in Indonesia.
For around €70 per night for two people, you stay in a place that feels like a true escape from the world. The accommodation is beautifully located, surrounded by an incredible landscape that you could stare at all day without getting bored.
One of the absolute highlights is the outdoor shower. Showering in the middle of nature, with only the sounds of the jungle around you, feels incredibly grounding. This was the place where we finally allowed ourselves to slow down and truly relax—long days of doing nothing, just enjoying the view.
Food and drinks are another big plus. You can order very affordable meals and cocktails, all freshly prepared and perfect after a warm day on the island.

In the evening, Spice Trader becomes almost magical. You can walk around the property, enjoy the calm atmosphere and watch a stunning sunset. There are several viewpoints and lookout towers, each offering a different but equally beautiful perspective.
And then there’s breakfast.
Waking up to banana pancakes, served with an unforgettable view, is the best way to start your day.
Spice Trader is also a perfect base for exploring Nusa Penida. From here, you can easily visit iconic spots such as Kelingking Beach, Crystal Bay and other famous locations on the island.

✨ Peaceful, natural and effortlessly beautiful — Spice Trader is a place I would return to without hesitation.
